The administrative responsibility for the Avalanche Warning Service in Salzburg lies with Philipp Kogler in the Department of "External Security and Civil Protection" of the Province of Salzburg. The operational activities of the Avalanche Warning Service are handled by forecasters and technicians of GeoSphere Austria under the direction of Michael Butschek.

In addition to numerous routine tasks, such as the preparation of daily avalanche forecasts or the management of the network of weather stations, the team also conducts training courses for the largely volunteer staff of the 93 avalanche warning commissions and observers in the province of Salzburg. In addition, the Avalanche Warning Service also manages the skitourenportal.eu platform.
